This
major new exhibition will highlight the rarely explored link between
two giants of twentieth-century western art. Placing sculptures by Moore
alongside paintings by Bacon, Flesh and Bone investigates their shared
influences and experiences.
Lead support of the exhibition is kindly being provided by Pictet and
Cie, with additional support from Sotheby's and the Friends of the
Ashmolean.
Tickets will be on sale in the Museum from 12 Sept.
The
Ashmolean opens the first of a major new series of exhibitions of
contemporary art in collaboration with the Hall Art Foundation,
beginning with the winner of the inaugural Turner Prize, Malcolm Morley.
With
behind the scenes tours of the Western Art Print Room and the
Conservation Studio, this is a rare opportunity to see some highlights
not usually on display.
With
lectures on Roman relics, workshops focused on the Italian Renaissance
and studies on Russian treasures, there is plenty to do at the Ashmolean
this September
